Mitsukake, Tasuki, Chichiri and Chiriko finally reach Nuriko, Tamahome and Miaka, but they are too late. Tamahome explains to Mitsukake what took place, which apparently shocks Tasuki the most. For a while, he is in a state of disbelief, ranting and raving about how Nuriko can't be dead. Eventually, he is seen leaning against the boulder, tears streaming down his face. This marks the first time that Tasuki displays complete emotional vulnerability in the series.
