Miaka runs away from Tamahome and falls into a crevice in which she is rescued by someone she thinks is Suboshi. Miaka wakes in a house under the care of the amnesiac Amiboshi. During a discussion with Amiboshi, Amiboshi begins talking about fleeing from his situation and writes the kanji for 'flee' on the mist on the window. Miaka encourages Amiboshi to reconsider and changes the kanji to 'challenge' to reflect her own situation.
