Miaka stares at Tamahome in shock after she has her arm broken by him and whispers "Tamahome...?" His reply is simply to tell her that she has no right to address him without the "san." She falls back against the wall pleading with him as he tells her that she disgusts him. As he prepares to deliver the final blow, she covers her eyes with her good hand and screams her denial. The nunchaku falls and Miaka's hair falls about her face, the blow having struck her hair and pulled the ribbon loose. He curses his miss as guards enter the room. Tamahome tells them to take "this disgusting creature away," and as they drag her screaming from the room, he kneels to pick up the fallen ribbon. He stares at it thoughtfully until he is interrupted. As he leaves the room, he tucks it into his sash without even noticing.
