While Miaka and company are planning out their strategy to find the Shinzaho by splitting up into pairs over dinner at an inn in Hokkan, a man hits on Nuriko, believing that the purple-haired seishi is a woman. Nuriko (literally) knocks the man away (or down). Since he is supposed to go with Miaka and Tamahome, Tamahome comments on how it might be difficult if he goes around town with two "girls". Nuriko protests, brings out a knife, and cuts off his braid.
